ABOUT THE CRAFT

Our handmade Chasen (bamboo matcha whisks) are a beautiful expression of traditional Japanese craftsmanship. For MyMa, we’ve finished our Chasenilled artisans using selected bamboo, chosen for its flexibility, resilience and natural finish.
The finely shaped tines are designed to create a smooth, delicate froth and a beautifully even matcha. No two Chasen are exactly alike - subtle variations are part of their character and a reminder of the hands and tradition behind each piece.

For MyMa, we’ve finished our Chasen in custom MyMa colours, bringing a subtle contemporary touch to this timeless part of the matcha ritual.

CARE

Prior to each use, soak your Chasen in hot water for a bit to soften the bamboo, enhancing its flexibility during whisking. After each use, ensure thorough cleaning by gently whisking it in a bowl of hot water (avoid using soap and refrain from placing it in the dishwasher). For proper drying, either place it on your Chasen-Tate (whisk holder) or position it upside down to allow adequate air circulation.
