ABOUT THE CRAFT
Discover our MyMa Raku Chawan (matcha bowl), meticulously crafted by Zurich based ceramic studio Jasna Strukelj Gmür. This unique Chawan, skillfully handcrafted by artist Jasna, embodies the perfect blend of Japanese tradition and modernity. Designed exclusively for MyMa, each bowl reflects our commitment to quality and the ritual.
RAKU
Raku is a ceramic technique that originated in Japan and is known for its expressive and spontaneous character. Unlike traditional pottery firing, Raku focuses strongly on the process itself. Pieces are shaped, bisque-fired, glazed, and then heated rapidly in a kiln. While still red-hot, they are removed and exposed to air or combustible materials, allowing fire and smoke to create distinctive surface effects.
CARE
Hand wash gently and thoroughly dry the Chawan with a clean towel or allow it to air dry completely.
NOTE
HEIGHT: ca. 8 cm
Each individual piece is handcrafted, resulting in unique variations in form, measurements, and colour.
